How We Do IT

Our processes are certified under the ISO 9001 quality management system as well as under the ISO 14001 environmental management system, and our data erasure software is certified under information security management system ISO 27001, together with other data security certification.

And here is how we do it:

After collection, all assets are booked into our inventory testing system. Faulty or/and obsolete items (old models, configurations, etc.) are fully re-tested. The ones that are faulty are recycled. Implementing a 0% landfill policy, we make sure no items or parts end up at  landfill sites. We send the most valuable parts (like motherboards, memory, CPUs) direct to refineries that process raw material into precious metals. The rest of the waste is sent to authorised treatment facilities, where the waste is  shredded, sorted into different types of materials (like ferrous, non-ferrous, various types of plastic, etc.) for further processing. We work closely with two authorised treatment facilities that provide us with waste transfer notes and hazardous waste notes (that are reported to the Environment Agency on a yearly basis) for each batch of IT equipment we send to them. All data wiping/erasure software used by us is fully certified under ISO 27001 and other security/data compliance certification. We provide data erasure certificates for all the equipment we process.

Here are the main steps in our IT recycling process:

  1. Collection: by our own vehicles or approved couriers assisted by our trained staff(employees).
  2. Manifesting inventory: assigning a barcode number to each item and booking in to an internal audit system.
  3. Data destroying/sanitisation:
  • Shredding in house and on site.
  • Data wiping: Blancco (for a fee), issuing data wipe certificates; or
  • Free software wiping in compliance with NIST 800-88DoD, 5220.22-M, HMG Infosec standards (issuing data wipe certificates).
  • HDD/SSD type of data destroying: shredding, punching, or degaussing.
  1. Refurbishing (re-testing, components upgrade/downgrade, cleaning, OS deploying).
  2. Re-selling (employee scheme for customers), online, wholesale.
  3. Recycling to raw materials level (plastics, metal, motherboards, etc.) – done by our partners (refineries, authorised treatment facilities).
  4. Full audit report and Environment Agency transfer note.

How it Works

Our Quick & Easy 4 Stages Process

Evaluation

You will receive an initial evaluation of your equipment within 24 hours after submitting an inventory.

Collection

Collection all over the UK with own vehicles and authorised couriers assisted by our trained staff.

Data Wiping

Testing and inventorying your equipment, followed by secure data erasure providing data wipe certificates.

Reporting

Within 7 days after collection, as a result of testing, you will receive a final evaluation report.
